These custom-designed travel mugs were made for one reason—to bring more joy to your life. From early morning stakeouts to sunset sightings (and those pesky errands along the way), this mug has you covered.
At 40 oz, it’s the perfect size to keep in your car while you’re in the field. And thanks to a twist-in lid with an exceptionally tight seal, your drink will hold its temperature longer—whether it’s hot coffee, iced tea, or anything in between.
Featuring works by artists from John James Audubon to the Kirby sisters to Napoleon’s rebellious nephew, these historic illustrations—now in the public domain—have been painstakingly restored and expertly composed for each mug. Every design blends three or four vintage pieces into a new work of art with its own unique flair.
• Unbeatable quality — Stainless steel craftsmanship built for the long-haul; includes a heavy-duty BPA-free lid and straw.
• Lightweight & sleek — Easy to carry and designed for most cupholders, from the car to your favorite chair at home.
• Sized just right — 40 ounces to help you stay hydrated, even when birding takes an unpredictable turn.
• Easy to care for — Handwashing keeps your mug gorgeous.
*The BPA-free straw is perfect for iced drinks. For hot beverages, leave the lid's sliding hatch open while steam escapes to prevent pressure build-up.
For the time being, these all-weather beauties can only be found in the USA. Known to migrate at unpredictable times, you might spy one sitting on a desk or table. They thrive in captivity and always provide a birding boost—especially when spotted in drab work environments or other dull places, like federal buildings.

The Laughing Owl (Ninox albifacies) earned its name from its call, said to resemble a throaty chuckle. Once found across New Zealand, this raptor disappeared in the early 1900s, made vulnerable by ground-nesting habits in a time of massive deforestation.
This notebook is a small way to keep its memory alive. The cover features a well-known drawing by Dutch artist John Gerrard Keulemans, done in 1871, four decades before the last confirmed sighting.

Do the mugs look as good as their pictures?
Better! Each mug is 40 oz. of stunning detail and vibrant colors wrapped in a glossy finish. Made using high-resolution images and printed with state-of-the-art technology, the result rivals photographic prints.
Why do you use public domain art?
To help preserve the rich history of bird illustration—much of which is collecting dust in archives. When I design a mug and you carry it, together we give these works new life for generations to come.
Is this print-on-demand?
Yes! Every item is created using print-on-demand (POD) technology. Without inventory, there’s zero waste, even when introducing fresh designs. Plus, POD ensures you always get a new mug, not a return.
Is there a money-back guarantee?
100%. If you’re not satisfied, initiate a return within 21 days of receiving your order and a full refund will be processed. Email annie@annieknowsart.com for the address to ship it back to, no questions asked.
Does this product ship fast?
Orders typically leave the nest within 2 to 4 days. Once ready, they ship with a range of carriers, including UPS, and take the standard amount of time for small package non-rush delivery.
Are you going to email me relentlessly?
I'm a big fan of less is more when it comes to email. Some things are worth emailing about—like new designs—so expect the occasional missive, but you won't get swamped with a deluge, now or ever.
I'm a veteran artist and graphic designer who recently discovered birding. It started with the movie THE BIG YEAR. I figured, Sure, this is about birdwatching, but it has three of my favorite stars. How bad can it be? Turns out, it's fantastic. Instead of finding something stuffy and dull, you're plunged into a world filled with drama, excitement and meaning. Immediately hooked, I ordered the book, then started learning to identify birds on my own.
At one point, I wanted to put something physical in my space to remind me of this new adventure. Specifically, I wanted something made for a birder, not a product with a generic bird-like shape slapped onto it. Aside from a few field journals — which weren’t quite what I had in mind — I couldn’t find anything to fit the bill (pun intended). So I figured, You've got the know-how. Why not make your own?
These mugs were my first designs, and I hope that digitally restoring and revamping the incredible zoological illustrations done by history's naturalists helps keep their work relevant in some small way.
Since making these travel mugs, I've done other products—including hats, wine tumblers, and grab-and-go bags. But this is just the beginning. After all, there's A LOT of birds out there and making meaningful things for birders is almost as fun as birding itself.
If you’re not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, email annie@annieknowsart.com to initiate a return within 21 days of receiving it. I'll send you the address to ship the product back to.
You can send it any way you choose as long as you provide tracking information—but I have a feeling you're going to love your new goods and returns will be a rare sighting indeed. Once received, a full refund will be processed to the payment method used to make the purchase.
